Showcasing Next-Generation Wastewater Treatment Technology at Bangladesh’s Premier Water Innovation Event Dhaka, May 21, 2025 — At a national moment of transformation in sustainable water management, Kingsley Engineering Services Corporation performed a pioneering role during the “Conference on Water Reuse and Recycle: Launching of National Alliance”, held on 21st May 2025 at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka. The high-level event was jointly organized by the Water Resources Planning Organization (WARPO), the Ministry of Water Resources, the 2030 Water Resources Group (WRG), and the World Bank Group.

The conference marked the official launch of the Bangladesh Alliance for Water Reuse and Recycle (A4R) a multi-stakeholder national platform aiming to advance wastewater reuse solutions. With top government officials, international financiers, and industrial leaders in attendance, Kingsley was given the opportunity to share the insights through pragmatic solutions by showcasing breakthrough technologies such as membrane filtrations designed for the future of water reuse. During the interactive panel discussion session, Mr. Rajib Ul Hoque, CTO of Kinglsey group briefly shared insights on the topic: Driving Scalable Growth Through Technology, Policy, and Financial Strategies. Other high officials such as Mr. Md. Asiqur Rahman, CEO along with the team also attended the session.

Distinguished
Leadership & Stakeholder Presence

The conference was inaugurated by Chief Guest Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Honorable Adviser, Ministry of Water Resources and Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh, who emphasized the critical need for circular water management strategies to address Bangladesh’s mounting water stress.

Dr. Sheikh Abdur Rashid, Cabinet Secretary, chaired the session and urged all sectors to unite under the new A4R alliance to accelerate the implementation of wastewater reuse technologies across the country.

Also, some distinguished guests from different institutions were invited to attend different sessions of the program including representatives from Ministry of Water Resources, FBCCI, BGMEA, World Bank etc.

Kingsley Showcased
ZLD & Color Removal Technology

Among dozens of participants and technology exhibitors, Kingsley Engineering drew attention for transforming its booth into a live demonstration zone, presenting two advanced pilot systems for tertiary wastewater treatment offering ZLD and Color removal technologies:

  • Nano Fiber Filtration (NF) Pilot System
This pioneering system treats Reverse Osmosis (RO) reject water and achieves chemical-free color removal — a feat rarely achieved at scale. With 35% of RO water traditionally lost as reject, Kingsley’s NF technology recovers high-quality permeate while eliminating color, addressing one of the textile and dyeing industry's most critical challenges.
  • Electro-Coagulation (EC) Pilot System
The remaining NF reject water is treated through Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP) like electro-coagulation, enabling further purification and significantly reducing environmental discharge. This closed-loop approach supports near-zero liquid discharge goals and reflects Kingsley's commitment to circular water economy solutions.

Visitors, including advisor Syeda Rezwana Hasan, and key government departments, were visibly impressed by Kingsley’s innovations. The company’s stall became a hub of conversation, with technical experts, investors, and policymakers engaging deeply with Kingsley's engineers.

Technical and Policy Dialogues
Unlocking Financing and Strategy

The conference schedule featured multiple technical sessions and panel discussions:

  • Technical Session I: “Unlocking Finance for Water Reuse,” presented by Mr. Harsh Goyal, Senior Water Specialist, World Bank
  • Presentations from BIFFL and other financing entities
  • Plenary sessions on accelerating water reuse, moderated by Ekaterina Maria Ghosh (JPA, World Bank)
  • A panel discussion on scaling water reuse, led by Madhu Krishna, Water Accelerator

Representatives from Bangladesh Bank, World Bank, and other institutions highlighted the growing need to develop financial instruments and incentives to support industries investing in advanced water reuse systems.

Participation from
Industry, Academia & Government

From morning keynote speeches to an afternoon of networking and open dialogue, the conference facilitated knowledge exchange among a wide array of stakeholders. Academic contributions, including a keynote from Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Sadean Khan (BUET), and industrial insights from BGMEA, FBCCI, H&M, PRIMARK, PUMA, DBL Group, HA-MEEM Group and others underscored the collaborative nature of the alliance.

Participants discussed challenges such as:

  • Limited public awareness of reuse benefits
  • High capital investment barriers
  • Need for clear regulatory frameworks
  • Technology adoption hesitancy at industrial scale

Looking Ahead
Building a Circular Water Economy

With the formal launch of A4R, Bangladesh has taken a significant step toward achieving SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation). The alliance will serve as a platform to align national strategy, technical innovation, and financial support toward safe, scalable, and cost-effective reuse of wastewater.

Closing remarks were delivered by Mr. A.M. Mahady Hassan, Coordinator, 2030 WRG, and Mr. A.M. Bazlur Rashid, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources — both highlighting the urgency of moving from pilot to implementation.
