The formal kickoff event of the pilot initiative ‘Purifying and Reusing up to 95% of Textile Wastewater’ of SMEP (Sustainable Manufacturing and environmental Pollution) program was organized recently on the on 27 November, at Six Seasons Hotel in Dhaka. Kingsley ESC, the proud technological partner in association with Solidaridad Asia, Q Stone Capital, and Lenntech, is implementing the pilot initiative towards implementing ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge) by reducing water footprint, ground water extraction and the protection of surface water and land degradation.

The pilot initiative seeks to develop an innovative business model that transforms wastewater treatment by significantly reducing costs. By employing cutting-edge water recycling technology, it aims to drive sustainability and accelerate progress toward achieving 'net zero' targets. This transformative approach has the potential to revolutionize water management in the textile industry, advancing sustainable and resource-efficient circular textiles. Moreover, it offers a scalable solution for other industries to enhance wastewater treatment and promote environmental stewardship.
The pilot will also explore for integration of 1% surcharge to the consumers towards developing a cost recovery to scale the sustainability initiative.
The textile industry stakeholders mentioned that the cost of sustainability is challenge, we need to navigate the challenge through technological innovations as well pricing for water.
The seminar was attended alongside KINGSLEY by Selim Reza Hasan (Country Manager- Bangladesh, Solidaridad), Mohammad Abdullah Yousuf Khan (Programme Manager, Solidaridad), Sultan Mahmud (Sustainability Professional, Solidaridad), Jeroen M. Tielman (Founder and CEO at QStone Capital), Rucksar Tabassum (Project Manager, QStone Capital).
